Young Families

Helping build Christ-centered homes where faith is lived out, passed down, and celebrated — one conversation, one moment, and one milestone at a time.

Young Families Roadmap

This roadmap is designed to help NorthField Church parents guide their children in faith development at each stage of life, while fostering meaningful family traditions, spiritual growth, and biblical understanding. It outlines how parents can nurture faith at home in line with the NorthField Church’s goals for each age group.

Preschool (Birth–5 Years) | Embrace

Preschool (Birth–5 Years) | Embrace

In the preschool years, we focus on helping children embrace God’s love by building a foundation of trust and spiritual security. This is a season for simple rhythms and meaningful traditions—bedtime prayers, singing worship songs, reading Bible stories, and modeling God’s love through encouragement and presence. We partner with parents to create a home environment where little hearts learn, “God made you. God loves you. Jesus is your friend forever.” Milestones like Baby Dedication and a child’s first prayer become powerful moments that anchor faith early and joyfully.

Elementary (K–3rd Grade) | Engage

Elementary (K–3rd Grade) | Engage

During the elementary years, we help kids engage with God’s Word and grow in simple spiritual habits. As their understanding deepens, families are encouraged to build consistent rhythms of prayer, Bible reading, worship, and conversation about wise choices and kindness. This stage is about reinforcing Gospel truths in everyday life—at the dinner table, in the car, and during family worship. Milestones like salvation conversations, baptism, and experiences such as VBS or Promotion Sunday help children begin taking meaningful steps in their personal faith journey.

Preteen (4th–5th Grade) | Equip

Preteen (4th–5th Grade) | Equip

The preteen years are about equipping children with biblical knowledge and a growing sense of identity in Christ. As they become more independent, parents can guide deeper conversations about Jesus’ teachings, spiritual gifts, service, and resilience in faith. This stage invites families to move from simply learning Bible stories to applying Scripture in everyday decisions. Presenting a Bible, serving together, and setting healthy boundaries around friendships and technology all help prepare preteens for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Middle School (6th–8th Grade) | Affirm

Middle school is a pivotal season to affirm identity, belonging, and personal faith ownership. As students navigate emotional and social changes, we encourage parents to foster open conversations and consistent spiritual disciplines. This stage focuses on helping students articulate their faith, understand who they are in Christ, and stay rooted in community through small groups, mentorship, and service opportunities. Celebrating transitions and encouraging mission experiences reinforces that their faith is both personal and purposeful.

High School (9th–12th Grade) | Mobilize

In high school, our goal is to mobilize students to live out their faith with responsibility, conviction, and service. Parents play a key role in setting clear, loving expectations while encouraging ownership of spiritual habits and leadership. This is a season of deeper conversations about identity, relationships, calling, and mission. Through small groups, mentorship, serving, and key milestones like Senior Sunday and graduation, we help students prepare to launch into adulthood grounded in truth, community, and a vibrant walk with Jesus.
